Are all denominations welcome?

Absolutely. We do not discuss the theological differences that divide us. Instead, we present the concepts that are common across all Christian denominations.

Where are the Walks held?

Our next two Walks are at the Saint Raphael Retreat Center just south of Downtown Dallas. We are not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, we just utilize their amazing retreat center.

How much does it cost to attend?

The fee is for the weekend $190. If payment is an issue, we can help.

What is the dress code?

We have none. Just wear what’s comfortable to you - pajama bottoms, yoga pants, shorts.

Exactly how far do you have to walk?

As far as the snack table is from you - seriously, there is no walking on the weekend.

Can I have technology on the weekend?

You may have heard that Emmaus “takes your watch from you”. Not true. You are invited to put away your watch or other technology that might distract from your experience and most folks do.

What if I need special accommodations?

Just let your sponsor know what you need.

What does the term “pilgrim” mean?

According to the dictionary, it is a person who takes a journey to a holy place. The Walk to Emmaus is certainly that.

Where did the name come from?

It comes from the encounter that two people had with the risen Christ on the Road to Emmaus found in Luke’s gospel. In the breaking of the bread their eyes were opened and they recognized him.

Do you have to be a mature Christian to attend?

Everyone is in a different place in their faith journey. The only thing that’s important is you already have an established relationship with God.

How is it different from other retreats?

Many retreats offer the opportunity for spiritual renewal. The purpose of The Walk to Emmaus is to give you the resources for service in your church and communities..

What happens after your three days?

Many folks become more active in their local church and are more dedicated to their personal Prayer, Study and Christian Action.
